Pole-face friction couplings are electromagnetically actuated friction couplings which allow the drive train to be disconnected and various devices to be engaged and disengaged both quickly and safely. Pole-face friction couplings are ideally suited to torque transmission duties, where there is an initial difference in speed between the various drive components.
